CCS attends NIWeek

Cooper Consulting Service attended NI Alliance Day and the NIWeek conference this year. As always, it was good to see what is new and upcoming for NI and its partners. We met with other NI Alliance members, the Texas field team, and numerous NI employees and customers.  All in the lively (but very hot) Austin downtown.

If you have an application using NI hardware or software that could use a boost, CCS is a NI Alliance Partner. Head on over to our Contact Us page and let us know how we can assist.NIWeek

CCS supporting Quad Video HALO, Inc.

CCS is providing engineering design and development support for Quad Video HALO V3.0.

The industrial design of the HALO ring assembly is being updated to improve camera positioning. A new interface module provides medical grade isolation of the HALO ring components to meet safety requirements. The improved cart design incorporates a medical grade UPS and is made in the U.S. to improve availability and reduce cost. The system will be certified to meet medical safety standards for US market approval and will get the CE mark for the EU market. CCS is implementing a documentation system to control the system design and to provide component vendor information and cost details.

IEEE HCN – March 2014 Meeting Notice

LTSpice Tips – Power On Simulation

When running a transient simulation, it is important to note that, by default, DC supply voltages start at their nominal level instead of ramping up from 0V.

But what if you need to test the power on behavior of your circuit?  Fortunately the solution is simple, though it is easy to miss. When you are setting up your transient simulation, make sure the “Start external DC supply voltages at 0V” box is checked:

LTS_DC_0V

You can confirm the setting is active by looking for the word “startup” in your simulation string:

LTS_Startup

LTSpice Tips – Navigation

Some quick ways to speed up your navigation during schematic entry:

  • Use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out without selecting the zoom tool.
  • Scroll wheel zoom is sensitive to cursor position, so place your cursor where you want to zoom.
  • To see your whole schematic, click the Zoom Full Extends button on the toolbar (magnifying glass with a red X through it)
