The Cardionics CardioSim VII Digital Heart Sound Simulator is used in classrooms, auditorums and skills labs for teaching cardiac ausculation. It is a PC based system that connects via USB to an electronic sound simulation module. It displays heart sounds as a phonocardiogram and simultaneously displays an ECG waveform. It can add breath sounds to any heart sound. The system allows the instructor to add one simulate sound part at a time to build a complex murmur or heart sound. For giving a lecture, the instructor can preprogram a series of sounds into a lecture that can be advanced on step at a time. The system allows a for a number of lectures to for each instructor. The system allows the instructor to give a test covering their lectures. The system can play simulated or real sounds and other images and animations. It can interface with infrared transmitter systems to cover a classroom or auditorium.
Cooper Consulting Service designed the electronic sound simulation module and managed the software development and sound program generation. CCS aslo designed and developed the infrared sound transmitters for auditoriums and classrooms along with the Heartman infrared sound receiver.
